Some of us are starting to prep for the beach, body mind and soul, right? Let me get real with you. I have never personally felt beach ready. I am just like everyone else in that I've struggled to accept the body I have. I've done a body building competition in the past in order to achieve the body I wanted, and I did! I worked so incredibly hard for it and made some major sacrifices to achieve my ideal "bikini body". What I realized after, was that it was not sustainable for my lifestyle. The diet was extreme, the training hours were ridiculous and I had no social life. It was only short term, but I knew that I could not continue this lifestyle. Ever since I've been searching for the happy medium, where I eat clean the majority of the time but try not to restrict myself. I have learned that placing myself on strict guidelines on what I can or can not eat has led to an unhealthy relationship with food. I know I am not alone in this feeling. But it's been difficult balancing a good relationship with how I view food and achieving the body I want. I'm still working on it, and I imagine I always will be. I recently purchased Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide and nutrition guide in order to help me on this path. I liked that she provided well rounded meals that had the appropriate macro and micro nutrients to complement each workout. I had to take a break from the guides due to a recent unrelated minor surgery, but I am excited to tackle them as soon as I am healed. I want to create a healthy lifestyle where I feel good about the food I am eating and the body that I have.
