I am literally moving in 3 days (ahh!), so I have definitely been thinking about how Alex and I are going to mesh our interior decor aesthetics. We both lean towards minimalistic pieces; he prefers a touch of industrial and dark woods, while I prefer stone and luxe details like gold, velvet and fur. I styled this wish list around our current couch (the one pictured above is quite similar). It is supposed to be black but reads a bit more dark grey, which works with my overall idea for a neutral color scheme anyways. I love the idea of minimalism, as cluttered rooms often make me feel incredibly anxious, but I do not want my living space to feel so minimal that it is almost clinical; much like a doctors office where everything is white, bleached, stainless steel without much character or "lived in-ness". The fur and velvet touches help to soften the sharp corners of the more modern pieces, while adding some coziness and making the space feel comfortable. The stone brings in natural earth elements to lessen any clinical feeling of the room, and the gilded details add a bit of luxury. I would love to hear how you and your partner combined and compromised on interior styles. What was your method for decorating to make sure both individuals felt represented and comfortable in their own space? Let me know in the comments or please email! This is new terrain for me.
