I wanted to introduce a new series called 'weekly wants' since I spend so much time online shopping, I mean online browsing. Most weeks I have a few items that I lock in on and just cannot get out of my mind. If the item I'm lusting over is out of my price range I can spend hours looking for a great alternative. This week I've been obsessing over a great avant-garde summer dress for work. I wanted something with sleeves and a lot of volume. I've been on the hunt for an oversized blazer and a flared black skirt for my new work wardrobe. Clearly I've been thinking more about items that will work for my new job; the perfect large black tote for carrying my planner and folders, some great fashion forward flats to change in to when my feet can't handle heels anymore, and a great blouse perfect for layering and transitioning into any season. The lucite bangle is a great statement piece and the Isabel Marant booties are perfect for the coming fall season; combing both leather and suede and a beige color that will pair well with just about anything.
I am so thrilled to be starting my first day of work next Monday. My wardrobe is slowly going to change since I have now switched my career to fashion. As a teacher, and as a teacher who worked in a very chilly basement of a school, I accumulated at least a dozen warm wool sweaters which I gave away to my friends and family since I won't be needing much wool here in Texas. I wore things that would allow me to be flexible, quite literally, as I was always sitting on the floor with the children and you cannot teach them "criss cross apple sauce" without demonstrating it yourself. What is and is not "work appropriate" is still a bit of a grey area for me. I understand that while working in fashion I am allowed a bit more creativity with my outfits, but it is something I will have to find out through observations of my colleagues.
